Wylam and District Churches

Rock Solid Youth Groups

Rock Solid meets every Wednesday in St Oswin's Church Hall, Wylam.

4.15pm - 5.30pm for school years 5 - 8 (ages approx 9 - 13)

6.00pm - 7.00pm for school years 9  & upwards (ages approx 14 + )

The session begins with as much toast as we can manage, made with lashings of butter, jam, nutella & peanut butter by Kay, Judy & Christine. If it's someone's birthday, then there's cake too! We catch up on the week's events together and then do fun activities around a theme with Joanne, our youth leader, Jenny and David. We sometimes have a pizza & film night or play on the Wii.

Then there's trips together too. We've recently been kayaking on the River Tyne, Ten Pin Bowling and to the cinema.

We have just started sponsoring Josè, a 16 year old boy in Bolivia, through the Christian Charity Compassion. We are looking forward to sending him letters, photos and postcards and receiving news from him too. We have some fund-raising ideas in the pipeline to help Josè and his family.

In the summer we get involved painting faces or saving penalties at the Jump 4 Joy event and we also help out at the Children's Summer Holiday Club! (See picture of "beach patroller" Megan below doing a forfeit for her "rock pool group" at Seaside Rock Hol Club 09... standing in spaghetti!)

Rock Solid now have their own YOuTh WoRsHiP BaNd which meet to rehearse on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month at 5pm in the upper room of Wylam Methodist Church! Speak to Joanne, Rock Solid leader, for more info.

New people are always welcome to join us at Rock Solid. Each session is only 50p (and small contributions to Josè's jar are always appreciated too).

ROCK SOLID aims to explore the Christian faith in a way that is relevant to young people through friendship, fun and activities.
