The session begins with as much toast as we can manage, made with lashings of butter, jam, nutella & peanut butter. If it's someone's birthday, then there's cake too! We catch up on the week's events together and then do fun activities around a theme with Richard. We sometimes have a pizza & film night or play on the Wii.
Then there's trips together too. We've recently been kayaking on the River Tyne, Ten Pin Bowling and to the cinema.
Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Rainbows, Brownies and Guides* all meet weekly during term time in the church hall. *Guides currently are not meeting due to a leader shortage and it is hoped they may restart soon. Thankfully the leader shortage of the Brownies have been resolved.

BUILDINGS UPDATE: The church tower roof will need repairing to make this weatherproof. This is expensive and will cost in excess of £10,000 with other tower works. Contributions towards the work are welcome. Robert Whinham has been appointed as the main contractor and work will take place in 2012 after a faculty has been obtained.
Our vision is to add a parish room or facilities to the church. However we need to protect the use of the church hall whilst looking ahead at our needs. The PCC met on the 27th October 2010 with this in mind and agreed the way forward. A steering group was formed with three sub groups. The sub groups have looked at the church, the hall and proposed extension after seeking views from parishioners and users. The PCC considered the findings on the 15th March and these were fully discussed at the AGM on the 12th April. Further progress will be reported here but may be delayed until the appointment of the new parish priest. Meeting of church and youth organisation leaders have been held to progress the church hall improvements. A design will be submitted to the PCC at a PCC meeting for this purpose on the 14th February at 19.45 and if accepted an architect will be employed.
CHURCH ORGAN We have been informed by John Lightbown & Sons who care for our organ, that repair of the pedal touch box action is required. The leather connectors on the linkage between the pedal keys and teh touch box are perished due to age. The repair will take approximately three days to complete at a total cost of £1,380. We have received some donations specifically toward this work, but as ever contributions are welcome to cover the shortfall. It is expected this work will be now be carried out in February.
